“and saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God at hand: repent, and believe the gospel.” –Mark 1:14
“For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” –John 3:17
Believing that Christ died for you is a lifestyle. It’s picking up your cross daily and crucifying your flesh.
“Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.” –Matthew 16:24
“For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:” -Romans 6:5
Jesus was without sin, yet he died for our sins on the cross, and rose. When he died for our sins, and rose, he freed us from death. And because we believe this, we know that if we pick up our cross daily, crucifying our flesh, living as he did: denying the ways of the world, we will be resurrected as he is.
“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable perfect will of God.” -Romans 12:2
Where Do I Start?
We start by reading the holy bible. He is his word, and this is how we learn of him, and everything else we need to know. His word challenges our thoughts, emotions, and actions; molding us into the person God created us to be. By abiding in his word, we become separated from the world. His word is our armor. The scriptures equip, teach, and defeat all that is not of him.
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. “ –John 1:1
“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” –John 8:31.32
“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” –John 17:17
“I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me ye can do nothing.” –John 15:5
Wait, crucifying my flesh, sounds like I will be losing out on things?
Crucifying our flesh, following after Christ is gain. We know that if we die with him; we will rise with him!
“For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.” –Matthew 16:25
“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21
“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the lost of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ –Philippians 3:8
By crucifying your flesh; living for Christ, you are becoming a living sacrifice for God, and that’s what he wants!
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.” –Romans 12:1
The Bible Declares You Are So Blessed!
“And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. “–Revelations 19:9
“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” -2 Timothy 3:16-17
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” –Jeremiah 29:11
“For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.” –Psalms 84:11
“And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed” – Deuteronomy 31:8
“As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:” 1Peter 2:2
“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving” –Colossians 4:2
“While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” -2Corrinthains 4:18
“For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:” –Matthew 6:12
Put on Your Armor Ephesians 6:10-17
Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, I and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
