If you don’t know what God said, how will you get it?

The other day a brother in Christ texted me because although he doesn’t practice a certain sin anymore, whenever it’s spoken about he feels condemned–like he is going to go to hell, or be punished. So by the grace of God I asked, well what scriptures are you using to cast those thoughts of condemnation down? ***this approach was used because he knows better lol*** he said “so a man thinketh so is he” I said well how does that help you stop feeling condemned? He said i don’t know… While God did allow me to give him the following scriptures regarding condemnation: 1. There is no condemnation to those in Christ walking after the spirit and not flesh (Romans 8:1) there is no punishment for u because u have turned from the sin and now u seek God

2. God said if we confess our sins to him he is faithful to forgive me and cleanse me of all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9)

Moral of the story is this: we have to stop using scriptures out of context. Stop going to a gun fight with water guns. Apply the appropriate scripture to your situation. Will a radiation session help a runny nose? No. Will peroxide help a head ache? No. Don’t doctors give the correct medicine according to the issue at hand? We have to be strategic with the scriptures we speak, especially when we are going through it. Yet, that same night in the spirit God dealt with me on the samething “using the right scriptures for situations.” The word of God is our sword, and it fights off everything that isn’t of God… Yet if you don’t use it the correct way those evil spirits will still manage to operate in your life, because you aren’t approaching it directly. THEREFORE LEARN WHAT GOD HAS SAID REGARDING YOUR SITUATIONS, THAT YOU MAY SEE WHAT HE SAID OCCUR IN YOUR LIFE.
