The reason we see ourselves having these wars in our minds beloved is because our flesh is use to us sinning willfully. It is use to its lusts being fulfilled constantly: sex, vainity, bitter conflicts, drunkeness, idolatry &etc., The word says the flesh and the spirit wars against each other, and this is what is happening. God has enabled us to receive the truth, and now the flesh is starving so it’s trying to fulfill it’s lust anyway it can by getting us to do anything contrary to God. We find ourselves doing what we hate doing, and this is why we must be lead by the spirit; The fruits of the spirit allow us to crucify the deeds of the flesh, because All those worldly things we use to do are not being done, because we are no longer being lead by the flesh but by the spirit; ultimately bringing into captivity all thoughts to the obedience of Jesus Christ. The fruits of the spirit are: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance. When we are lead by the spirit, fleshy ways are mortified: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings.
(notice how they are contrary to one another)
Love fulfills all. Bcus if we truly loved the way God wants us to, the deeds of the flesh will mortified.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.
16. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. Rom. 7.15-23
18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20 idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26 Let us not be desirous of vainglory, provoking one another, envying one another.
For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
